Obituary


Kathryn Irene (Allen) Grubaugh entered into her eternal life on April 2, 2015. She was born
April 8, 1921 to Lyle and Mary (Badger) Allen, the first of their five children. Richard, Dorothy, Harry and Stanley later joined the family. Katie moved to Parma to attend Parma
High School, where she met Walter E. (Buster) Grubaugh. On February 8, 1941 Buster
and Katie were married. They settled in Parma where they raised their four children,
Gaylord, Beatrice, R. Duane and Stanley. When all of their children were in school, Katie
went to Cosmetology School...

Kathryn Irene (Allen) Grubaugh entered into her eternal life on April 2, 2015. She was born
April 8, 1921 to Lyle and Mary (Badger) Allen, the first of their five children. Richard, Dorothy, Harry and Stanley later joined the family. Katie moved to Parma to attend Parma
High School, where she met Walter E. (Buster) Grubaugh. On February 8, 1941 Buster
and Katie were married. They settled in Parma where they raised their four children,
Gaylord, Beatrice, R. Duane and Stanley. When all of their children were in school, Katie
went to Cosmetology School and became a beautician, and eventually owner/operator
of The Beauty Box in Parma.

Katie was a longtime member of the Parma United Methodist Church, serving as a
Sunday School Teacher, Church Board Member, and a United Methodist Woman, and
part of the Happy Hookers. Through the years Katie was active in the VFW auxiliary,
the Eastern Star, the Septomay Club and the Literary Club. As a proud parent, she served
as a girl school leader, band parent, PTA member, and a supporter of her children.
Katie enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, reading, gardening and her grandchildren.
She was an active firefighter's wife, often taking coffee and sandwiches to the scene.

Katie is survived by a brother, Harry Allen, sister-in-law, Jane Allen, daughter,
Rev. Beatrice Rose Robinson, daughters-in-law, Bonnie Grubaugh, and Virginia Grubaugh,
several nieces and nephews, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several
great great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Katie's Life will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 (her 94th birthday)
at the North Parma United Methodist Church, corner of Devereaux and Brown Rds., at
11:00AM.
