Jimmie Lee Baker was born March 22, 1927 in Opelika, Alabama to Jimmie and Mattie (Bennett) Baker. Four children were born to this union.
He attended Opelika Public Schools. He relocated to Albion in the late 1940's. He returned to
Alabama an brought back the love of his life, Mary, too this union four sons were born, Jimmie Jr., Durand,
Eddie and George.
He worked for 30 years at Hayes Albion where he eventually retired and began a very successful
business in interior/exterior painting service. He was also a photographer. He had a love for
the camera and a talent to match, taking photos and developing his own film. He had a passion for
growing fruits and vegetables, eventually being credited for growing a record size watermelon.
He was an active member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church serving for many years
on the Usher Board. He remained devoted to Macedonia until health issues would not allow him to attend.
On March 27, 2015, Jimmie answered the Lord's call and transitioned from earth to glory. He was preceded in
death by his parents, wife Mary, son Jimmie Jr., and all siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Michael Coleman (Pasty,Detroit); Durand (Oklahoma
City, OK)), Eddie (Albion) and George (Sylvia, AZ), 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
Jimmie will be greatly missed by not only an extensive family, but an entire community, and
will always be remembered as a loving, caring and genuine man with a good sense of humor.

For I am now ready to be offered, and my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith. Hence forth there is laid up for me a
crown of righteousness.
