On January 24, 2018, Dora Strickland French passed away at Tendercare Nursing Home in Marshall, Michigan. She was a long-time resident of Hall Street in Albion, followed by several years as a resident of County Pines Adult Foster Care.

Dora Mildred Strickland was born August 14, 1920, the fifth child of Guy Earl Strickland and Ada Wilmarth Strickland. She was born and raised on the family farm on Conduit Road in Albion Twp., southwest of Albion, which became Strickland land when her grandfather, Oscar Strickland, bought out homestead rights to the land in 1871.
Dora graduated from Albion's Washington Gardner High School, and spent several years travelling and living in the northwest and California. Working in San Francisco during World War II, she supported the war effort welding "Liberty Ships" that were used to transport men and materials to the European front.
Upon return to Albion, she worked for several years at The Coffee Cup, and then spent many years employed with Albion College, from which she retired. Church was an important part of her life in her senior years, and she regularly attended East Eckford Community Church until she could no longer drive.

Dora was first married to the late Ernest Rainoldi of California, and in later years was married to the late Henry French of Michigan. She is survived by two children, Kurt (Susan) Strickland of Issaquah, Washington, and Sheila (Jean) Echeverria of Dixon, California; five grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one brother, Roscoe Strickland of California, and three sisters Estelle Champney of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Norma McPherson of Columbia, Tennessee, and Frances Conrad of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Funeral Service will be Thursday February 1, 2018 at 11:00AM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finely Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224 with Pastor Al Henson officiating.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Albion.
